Iker Casillas during his time as Real Madrid goalkeeper

Iker Casillas has decided to retire from professional football after suffering from a heart attack on 1st May during a club training session in Porto.

Casillas, 37, won five La Liga titles and a World Cup with Spain during his glittering 21-year career.

The goalkeeper made over 700 appearances for Real Madrid before joining Portuguese side Porto on a free transfer in 2015.

The 37-year-old World Cup winner intends to call time on his career at the end of the season as he does not want to feed uncertainty about his future, according to Portugese outlet O Jogo.
