Joint Technical meeting between Uganda and DR Congo has kicked off at Hotel Margherita, Kasese.

The meeting was held to address the issues affecting trade between the 2 countries with emphasis on Cross border trade.

Ugandan traders have raised a number of issues against the Congolese authorities including the delayed clearance of goods, non recognition of Uganda Certificate of Origin, too many check points that result into multiple taxation, continued ban of poultry products despite Uganda being declared free of bird flu and many more.

The technical committee meeting precedes the Ministerial meeting scheduled to take place on Monday April 9, 2018 in Kasese.

DRC is Uganda’s 3rd export destination in the region with our exports valued at $176.9m. Uganda mainly exports construction materials, iron & steel, cereals etc.
