Monaco playmaker Thomas Lemar is on the brink of signing for La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in a £66million move after the Spanish club announced a deal had been agreed.
The 22-year-old will sign a deal with the club and put to an end speculation regarding his future, after being previously linked with Liverpool and Arsenal.
Lemar is currently in Russia with the France national side, as they prepare to embark on their World Cup campaign.
‘Atletico de Madrid and AS Monaco has achieved a preliminary agreement over the transfer of Thomas Lemar to our club,’ the club announced on their official website.
‘Over the next days, both clubs will work to close the agreement for the definitive transfer.’
Any official unveiling and contract signing could be set to take place before France’s kick-off in the showpiece tournament, if the transfer can be completed in time.
